"Primary hyperhidrosis is the condition characterized by abnormally increased perspiration, in excess of that required for regulation of body temperature. Some patients afflicted with the condition experience a certain degree of reduction in their quality of life, depending on how severe their condition is. Sufferers feel at a loss of control because perspiration takes place independent of temperature and emotional state."

Sweating is a normal part of life. It’s your body’s way of cooling itself down when it gets too hot. However, if you find yourself sweating during inopportune moments and there doesn’t seem to be any cause for it, you could be suffering from an overactive thyroid. You may know that a thyroid can affect your weight and energy levels. If your thyroid is slow, you could become tired all the time as well as overweight. An overactive thyroid, however, can cause excessive sweating. Therefore, if you find yourself excessively sweating and there doesn’t seem to be a reason for it, have your thyroid checked out by your doctor. It could be the most important thing you ever do.

 What To Look Out For

If you find that you sweat all the time, you should first try some easy fixes to see if that helps. It could be that your excessive sweating and thyroid aren’t related at all. Try switching your deodorant, as you can become immune to certain brands over time, try deep breathing exercises, to see if anxiety is the cause of your sweating, and try anything at all you think will fix your problem. If nothing helps, however, then your excessive sweating and your thyroid could be related.

 Check With Your Doctor

Your doctor will be able to determine if your excessive sweating and thyroid are related. He or she will conduct certain tests to determine the exact cause of your sweating. If an overactive thyroid is the cause of your sweating, your doctor will typically prescribe medications or whatever treatment he or she sees fit. Your doctor, though, should be the one to treat your thyroid related excessive sweating and you should never try to diagnose or treat any diseases on your own.

 Overactive Thyroids

You should, however, be able to tell if your thyroid is the cause of your sweating. If you’re thin no matter how much you eat, you could have an overactive thyroid. If you find yourself bouncing off the walls with energy constantly, you could also have an overactive thyroid. You should still check with your doctor to make sure your thyroid and excessive sweating are related. You never know, your sweating could be an indication that something more serious is going on. It’s only by getting yourself checked out by your doctor that you’ll be able to find the true source of your excessive sweating once and for all
